Once you are sure you have a yeast infection there is no reason to feel embarrassment about it. It is a common infection, especially amongst women, you just need to select a treatment and deal with the root cause in order to permanently get rid of it. Leaving it and making believe it isn’t true is not going help. Your doctor is there to advise you about treatment options and make sure you get a professional diagnosis from them too. Two thirds of women think they have a yeast infection but actually have something else.

The overgrowth of the fungus Candida Albicans is how a yeast infection happens, and this fungus lives on all of us in low numbers harmlessly most of the time. The low numbers are maintained by the good bacteria, but if these are killed, the balance is lost and overgrowth takes place. Like other forms of fungus it prefers dark, warm and damp areas to live, which is why yeast infections tend to happen in such places as the anus, penis, vagina, folds of skin, under arms and the mouth.

Symptoms range in severity and include itching, redness, and irritation. Further more general symptoms can also happen such as food allergies, depression, weight gain, pain when urinating and having sex, insomnia, migraines, and potential skin issue such as eczema and psoriasis.

One of the key triggers are antibiotics or rather prolonged use of antibiotics. By their very nature they are meant to kill bacteria, and some antibiotics cannot identify just bad bacteria, they will just kill all bacteria. This means the good bacteria levels are lowered allowing overgrowth of the fungus to occur. If you are on a long course of antibiotics try topping up your good bacteria by taking probiotic supplements or by eating plain live yogurt. Other things you can do to prevent an infection include avoiding things like feminine sprays, scented soaps, harsh detergents, perfumed softeners and douching. Swift treatment is important to prevent further health issues and because the longer you leave it the harder a yeast infection is to clear up.

There are natural remedies you can try or there are medicated treatments including stronger drugs from your doctor or weaker ones from over the counter at a pharmacy. Usual forms are cream, pill or suppository and courses range from 1 day up to 7 day treatment. As well as treating the symptoms you also need to look at and deal with the key trigger of your fungus overgrowth. Other things you can do at home to help is flush out toxins by drinking lots of water, sleep well, eat well, and avoid lingering in wet clothing or wearing overly tight clothing, or synthetic material underwear.

Many women have to deal with at least one yeast infection during their lifetime, and though common it is not an easy thing to cope with, or admit to. The symptoms make life difficult and tend to infuse you with a sense of urgency in getting rid of them. They include swelling, pain, itching, a rash and redness. Depending on how long you have left a yeast infection depends on how severe it might be, so lets look at what it is and what to do if the infection is severe.

As mentioned it is a common issue for women in particular but it is not limited to just them. Children, and babies of both genders can get yeast infections as can adult men. The micro organism that leads to a yeast infection is a fungus called Candida Albicans and it lives in small numbers on most of us. The healthy bacteria keep those numbers limited, but sometimes something happens to that balance and the fungus is able to grow leading to a yeast infection.

Acting quickly is really the key to effectively treating a yeast infection. If you get treatment as soon as you notice the symptoms it can take as little as one or two weeks to clear it up. However if you ignore the symptoms they will just worsen and the infection becomes more severe and harder to treat. Severe cases really need a doctor to look at them, and this is also true if you are diabetic or if you have an illness that affects your immune system.

There are two main ways to treat a yeast infection, naturally or medicated. Medicated means over the counter products you can buy from a pharmacy or stronger drugs from a doctor. Sometimes over the counter methods become ineffective if the infection keeps returning and you keep using the same one. Again if an infection keeps recurring you should talk to your doctor.

Treating yourself naturally can be very effective but does need more work from you. As well as using natural items like yogurt, garlic or tea tree oil to deal with symptoms you also need to make lifestyle and diet changes. However this way treats the core cause of your infection and means you are far less likely to have recurring or severe infections again. Avoid wearing tight clothing, wet clothing, and wear cotton underwear. Reduce your stress, sleep well, exercise and eat well.

An anti Candida diet can help re-balance your body, and if a poor diet is the cause of your problem it can stop recurring infections. Anti Candida diet takes will power though and it can make everyday life tricky so here are some ideas on how to deal with different situations.

Give yourself a chance to succeed: If you have a poor diet that is rich with foods high in sugars an anti Candida diet is going to be harder for you. Going cold turkey is not a good idea as you are more likely to quit the diet. Slowly cut out the foods you need to, until you reach the point where you can start the official week Cut out one type of food at a time each week, for example sugary foods one week, junk foods another, processed another.

Be positive Think about what you can eat rather than what you cannot. There are still a large variety of great foods with great tastes that you can eat.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Sometimes you may slip up, sometimes it might be an occasion where you had little alternatives, a friends birthday party and she insists you try her cake and so on. Just because you have something not on the diet once or twice is not a reason to give up the diet altogether. Just get refocused.

Be prepared. Carry snacks around with you just in case that are suitable. If you are going round a friend’s house for a coffee and nibbles, take your own nibbles.

Eat before a party: Finger foods are hard to resist and everyone eats far more of them than we should. Before going out to such an occasion eat a good meal so you are less tempted by all that carbohydrates and sugar.

Eating Out Try to be the one who choose which restaurant to go to if you have a dinner date so that you can choose one you know has food you can eat. Most places have salads nowadays so if in doubt opt for that. Even if they do not as long as you are not eating out every night relax!

Making friends and family aware. It helps if the people around you know you have special food requirements so they do not keep tempting you with foods you can’t eat. But understandably you may not want to announce to everyone you know that it is an anti candida diet. Tell people you are detoxing and that is usually enough for them.

On every human body there lives a lot of microorganisms and the cause of a yeast infection or Candida is one of them, called Candida Albicans. It is a fungus that lives on us while we are healthy in small numbers and at that pint is harmless to us. But if its numbers get too high it can lead to a yest infection. Yeast infections happen in warm and moist areas of the body especially the genitals, but also including the mouth where it is often referred to as Thrush.

There are several reasons that might lead to the good bacteria being unable to do their job such as the use of certain medications including antibiotics. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, they do not discern which are the bad making you ill and which are the good that help you. There are also some foods that can cause it particularly a diet high in sugars. Symptoms include redness, itching and burning. Thrush has white spots beneath which are painful lesions.

Prevention of a yeast infection involves maintaining the balance in your body and ensuring you do not create favorable conditions for the fungus such as an acidic environment. Your diet is what can affect this. When dealing with an existing infection you need to treat promptly as the longer it is left the more chance there are of health risks and further complications. Not only will it not clear up by itself, and the symptoms will worsen, but there are rare but potential risks of the fungus entering your blood stream where it can do a lot of internal damage (systemic infection.)

There are over the counter treatments but they they claim to be cures usually they will just help with symptoms as they do not treat the root cause. When imbalance happens again it will be there, many women suffer from recurring yeast infections.

Avoid foods with yeast, and sugar. Cut out alcohol and refined carbs. Eat more green leafy vegetables, more yogurt that is probiotic and lean proteins like chicken. Raw garlic too is anti fungal and so will help fight the yeast. Avoid milk and cheeses that have fructose and lactose in them. Though the diet can be hard at first it is worth it when you are clear of yeast for good!

There are some microorganisms living on our body that help us such as ‘good bacteria’ which work with the immune system. There are also some that either do nothing at all or actually cause us harm. One of these is called Candida Albicans and it is a fungus. The good bacteria work to keep the numbers of this fungus at low levels and while that is happening we stay healthy. But if the good bacteria are killed or something trigger an imbalance, the fungus will grow very quickly into larger numbers that will cause us harm as it causes a yeast infection.

Prevention: Avoid wearing tight clothing and underwear. The fungus loves moist and warm areas, this is why the vaginal infection is so common. You need to wear underwear that allows air to the vagina and clothing that allows circulation. Cotton is best as it allows the skin to breathe.

What you eat and drink can be a trigger for an overgrowth so look at your diet as another way to prevent a yeast infection. Foods to cut down on or completely cut out are junk, processed and refined. Also avoid yeasty foods like beer or bread and sugar. The fungus feeds on sugar, so the more sugar you eat the more you are feeding the fungus and helping it to grow. Foods you can eat more of that can help are cranberries or the juice, probiotic yogurt, vegetables and drinking lots of water.

Clean regularly and keep the area dry. Avoid chemical use there such as feminine sprays. Do not douche. During sexual intercourse use lubricants that are water based rather than petroleum based. Pregnancy makes a woman more likely to get an infection so avoid steroids.

Basically you need to decide whether you want to try natural remedies or stick with more conventional drug based treatments. Your doctor will prescribe something stronger if you have a severe infection that has not responded to over treatment methods. Or of your infection is milder you can look at over the counter treatments from a pharmacy. There are many brands to choose from and treatment comes in several forms. Natural methods are what some turn to when disappointed by conventional. They include remedies like yogurt used as a lotion, apple cider vinegar in water used as a bath, or even raw garlic used as a suppository.

Yeast infections can also be referred to as Candida and this comes from the cause of them, a fungus called Candida Albicans. The most common place they can happen is in the vagina and so women more frequently suffer but it can also occur under skin folds of the obese, in the mouth and really anywhere on the body that is warm and damp. This means it is not an infection limited to just women, but can cause discomfort in children and men too.

A mouth yeast infection is more commonly called Thrush and is vary painful in adults, and can be common amongst babies though is less painful for them. It is identifiable by the white patches in your mouth and sometimes your throat. Babies are more prone to Thrush than adults, women are more prone to vaginal infections and men mostly have to deal with a penile infection.

A Vaginal yeast infection can have a variety of symptoms, some are more common than others, depending on severity and each case. Common problems are the vagina being sore and red and an itching that starts off mild and bearable, but soon gets worse as long as the infection goes untreated. Though yeast infections are not a serious health problem usually in some cases there is the possibility of getting a chronic infection or even rarer systemic which can lead to death. Acting quickly to treat an infection is important.

Causes of a yeast infection vary, there are several factors that can lead to the fungus overgrowing. Common factors are hormonal changes, long time use of antibiotics, an immunity already weak possibly from a preexisting illness, and even diet. In men the most usual cause of a penile infection is sex that is unprotected with a female partner that has a vaginal yeast infection.

Treatments can be in the form of pills, creams and suppositories from over the counter at a pharmacy, stronger medications can be got from your doctor if your infection is more severe. There are also a lot of effective natural treatments that more and more people are turning to today including tea tree oil, curd, yogurt, and garlic. Choose whichever you feel comfortable with.

A lot of women get very embarrassed and even experience shame about having a vaginal yeast infection, when in fact it is a very common problem. Act quickly to treat it so you can get on with your life and be sure to deal with the root cause rather than just using a cream on it, as if you do not deal with what caused it, it is likely to become a recurring infection.

A yeast infection is the name for a common infection caused by a type of yeast-like fungus called Candida. For men,the most common cause of yeast infection is through sexual intercourse with a woman affected with a yeast infection. The best way to prevent a penile yeast infection is to practice safe sex. If the yeast infection is left untreated, the symptomatic pains of this infection may continue and this may worsen the severity. As embarrassing as this can make some women feel, you must realize that the yeast infection is not your fault.

The causes of yeast infections are both few and numerous. Did you know that the main causes of yeast infections are moist heat and lack of air circulation. The causes of yeast infections are also an important part of discovering exactly what a yeast infection is. The most common causes of yeast infections are taking antibiotics, hormonal changes in the body, sexual intercourse, wearing clothing that is too tight and there are also some diseases that also cause increased chances of getting a yeast infection. There are a few illnesses where a yeast infection is a common part of having the illness, these include diabetes, lukemia and HIV. Once you have discovered just what a yeast infection is, you can take measures to not only treat current ones, but also to prevent future infections.

Rarely, men who have sex with women with yeast infections will get an itchy rash on their penis. However, it is possible for men to develop symptoms of skin irritation of the penis from a yeast infection after sexual intercourse with an infected partner. When symptoms are present, the most common symptoms of a penile yeast infection are: irritation and soreness of the head of the penissevere itching on the head of the penis a white, clumpy dischargeredness color on the head of the penis small blisters on the head of the penis. Antibiotics can kill beneficial bacteria that is found on the penis and in the crotch.

Male yeast infection treatments are fairly simple. Natural yeast infection treatments have become popular because medicated treatments often don’t treat the underlying cause of yeast infections. While medication treats an isolated and localized yeast infection, alternative treatments are effective at treating chronic yeast. Non medical treatments often work at helping relieve symptoms and helping balance the pH balance of the body. There are a lot of yeast infection treatments available from over the counter medicines to prescription medicines and if you have tried all of these treatments but your yeast infection keeps coming back then you are only treating the symptoms and not the infection itself. For instance, the strain candida glabrata now seems to be resistant to many of the topical anti-fungal treatments currently on the market.

As with all health conditions it is advisable to see your family doctor before you start treatments to ensure they are suitable for you. Many people have found that their doctors are accepting of both medical and traditional treatments of yeast infections which can be equally as effective or even better then the pharmacological treatments for yeast infections. Make sure you follow the directions given by your doctor and keep up on your treatment plan, which may include weekly or bi-weekly treatments to keep the yeast at bay.

Most people don’t know what a chronic yeast infection is or the damage it can do. Chronic yeast infection is a condition in which you have these infections at least four times during a year. If you have symptoms of a yeast infection, see a doctor immediately so they can determine if a yeast infection is the cause of your symptoms, and suggest a course of (hopefully natural) treatment.
